Afterbell Preview
Rules you can read.
The window, the corridor, the print. This is the same documentation Ask Afterbell uses to answer your questions.
Preview instructions
Before the close, Place preview position saves an instruction for the selected window; displayed collateral and corridor values are estimates based on the latest completed close. At 4:00 PM ET, the actual regular-session close fixes the instruction's reference, corridor and simulated escrow. An overnight position uses that same frozen reference. No real funds are reserved and no position is sent on chain. A missing close keeps the instruction unpriced, rather than substituting an older close.
How a night works
Afterbell is a preview of overnight stock markets on
Solana. A window funds until 4:00 PM New York time on a US market weekday. The regular-session close becomes the frozen reference. The window runs overnight and settles to the next trading session's 9:30 AM official open. Weekends and US exchange holidays show the next window. Prices on
Solana are context, not the settlement print.
The corridor
Each window has a lower and upper price bound, fixed before a position exists. In the preview, the corridor is 10% below and above the reference close. One contract represents one dollar of payout for each dollar of stock movement. A long's margin is the reference minus the lower bound; the vault reserves the upper bound minus the reference. A short reverses those amounts. At settlement, the open is clamped to the corridor. Long payout is contracts times (clamped open minus lower bound); short payout is contracts times (upper bound minus clamped open). The vault receives the rest. Trader payout plus vault payout always equals the funded escrow. Maximum loss is paid up front; there are no margin calls.
Settlement and refusals
The named settlement event is the Nasdaq official opening price for the stock and session. This preview reads the regular session's first open through Yahoo's chart API, which is a data feed, not an independently authenticated Nasdaq settlement oracle. The raw open is retained even outside the corridor. From 9:30 AM ET the window is settling; it checks each minute while this site is open. If the close or open is still unverifiable at 10:00 AM ET, the preview refuses the window and returns the original trader margin and vault reserve. An unpriced instruction has no funded escrow to return. When you return later, a valid dated print settles a still-pending position; otherwise the elapsed deadline refuses it. A settled or refused record is final in this browser. Program: deploys at mainnet launch.
What preview means
Wallet connection is real. Stock prices and historical prices come from Yahoo; xStock prices on
Solana come from Jupiter. Positions, fills belonging to you, vault deposits and balances are simulated in this browser, keyed by your connected wallet address. A preview position or deposit never requests a signature, transfers funds or holds a claim on stocks. Clearing browser storage removes the preview records. Data refreshes each minute; unavailable prices appear as a dash.
Vaults and risks
The vault takes the other side of a position and reserves its maximum payout before the window starts. Preview vault balances and yields are illustrations, not returns you can earn. Stock gaps may exhaust a position's entire margin. xStocks may diverge from the underlying stock. Price feeds may be delayed or unavailable. Corporate actions can make close-to-open comparisons misleading; replays are historical context and not forecasts. A future live program would also carry smart-contract, oracle and liquidity risk. Not financial advice.
Your preview vault
Each stock has a separate simulated vault. Record deposit adds a local
USDC balance during funding; deposits pause overnight. Only your own positions use that local balance, up to the free reserve available when a reference is fixed. Any remaining position reserve is an illustration of the counterparty, not your deposited balance or real liquidity. Reserved balance cannot be allocated twice. Last night?s yield is your allocated result divided by the reserve allocated that night, for your latest settled night; there is no preset nightly return. No positions means no earned yield. There are no other people's fills, deposits or balances here.
Replay and data
Replay loads one stock's last year of Yahoo daily regular-session prices. Each gap compares a completed close with the immediately following trading session's open; missing sessions are not bridged. What a long would have paid uses one contract and the same 10% corridor. Payout includes returned margin; result subtracts margin. Fees are not modelled. The home chart uses only the last 30 nights. Live prices refresh each minute, and a window chart distinguishes Yahoo after-hours prices from Jupiter xStock samples collected while the page is open. Prices can be stale or unavailable; a dash means no verified value. All times and recurring US exchange holidays use America/New_York, including daylight-saving changes. The preview uses the brief's 4:00 PM close and 9:30 AM open schedule; exceptional closures and shortened sessions require manual review before any live launch.
Connection and storage
Connect wallet asks your wallet for its public address only. Afterbell never asks for a message signature or a transaction signature. The address is a browser record key, not an authenticated trading account. Switching wallets switches records. Clearing storage removes them, and another browser or device does not share them. Keep the page open for minute-by-minute settlement; returning later retrieves dated prints for unresolved positions. Browser previews can be edited locally and are not a financial record. Ask Afterbell explains this same documentation, never gives investment advice and never predicts a price.
Questions before the bell
What am I calling?+
The gap between a stock’s frozen close and its next official open. A long favours a higher open; a short favours a lower one. You are not buying the stock.
What does fully funded mean?+
Trader margin and the vault reserve cover every possible payout inside the corridor before a position exists. There is nothing more to pay overnight.
What if the print cannot be verified?+
The window refuses settlement and returns the original escrow to each side. An unavailable price is never guessed.
Can I place a real position today?+
This is a preview. You can explore real prices and simulated positions, but no funds move. Preview records stay in your browser.
Does the
Solana price settle my position?+
No. The xStock price shows what is happening overnight. Settlement uses the named official open, not the live
Solana price.
